Copa America Final: Chile – Argentina

Football fans all over the world are excited to watch this year´s Copa América final that will be played on this Saturday. In the final, the host team of Chile will take on 14-times Copa América champions Argentina in what promises to be a great spectacle. Thanks to the ultimate 1:0 victory, the Chileans qualified for the semi-final but the match also had a significant undesirable consequence for the host team, as their defender Jara was given a three-match ban for his unsporting behaviour. However, the Chileans dealt with this absence and succeeded in the semi-final after they beat Peru. Therefore, Chile will try to achieve their first Copa América victory ever in the Saturday final against Argentina.

Argentina

One of the most successful teams in Copa América history, Argentina have a great chance to add another trophy to their impressive collection. But with the exception of the semi-final match, their performance has not been as brilliant as some of their fans might have expected. In the group opener, they tied with Paraguay to only gain two hard-earned victories over Uruguay (1:0) and Jamaica (1:0) in their next games. In the quarter-final, Argentina faced Colombia and they only advanced to the next stage thanks to a lucky penalty shootout win. It was not until the semi-final fixture against Paraguay when the Argentines finally gave a display that all their fans had been waiting for. Led by their star attacking trio Messi – Tévez – Aguero, Argentina destroyed Paraguay 6:1and they are within one more win of reaching the ultimate victory. To become the Copa América Champions again, they need to beat Chile, which should not be an unsolvable task for them as the Argentines have exceptionally good record against their rivals, loosing just one match to them in all their head-to-head games.

The Copa América final is likely to offer a fascinating battle of two brilliant sides.
